Morihei Ueshiba

Founder of Aikido

Aikido is a modern Japanese Martial Art created by the Founder, Morihei Ueshiba during the 1920s. He was an expert who reached the highest level of mastery in the classical Japanese Martial Arts.
Born on December 14th, 1883. in the present-day city of Tanabe in Wakayama Prefecture, he passed away on April 26th, 1969 at the age of 86.

After the Founder’s passing, his son Kisshomaru Ueshiba was inaugurated as Aikido Doshu. At present, Moriteru Ueshiba has succeeded his father as Aikido Doshu.

The Aikikai Foundation is the official parent organization for the development and popularization of Aikido throughout the world since 1940.
It is an association that was established in order to support inheritance of Aikido created by the Founder, to train body and mind through Aikido and to promote Aikido. Today, Aikido has become established in 130 countries around the world.

The Aikido Association Germany e.V. is a national federation which follows the guidelines of the international Aikikai Foundation.
Founded as a friendship based national and international network of enthusiastic aikidoka around 2006 it was registered under the current name in 2019.
